Jens Bertel Rasmussen is considered one of the absolute leading lawyers in sports law. He holds this position because he has worked at an organizational and management level in the world of sports for many years - both in a national and international context.
At the moment Jens Bertel Rasmussen is vice president of the European Handball Federation´s Court of Appeal, and in addition to that, he is chairman of the Danish Handball Federation’s Disciplinary Committee.
He has been on the board of DBU – amongst other things, as chairman of DBU’s Disciplinary Committee and the Divisions’ organization. Jens Bertel Rasmussen has also held the position as a member of the Danish Ice Hockey Union’s Regulatory and Amateur Board
Furthermore, Jens Bertel Rasmussen is co-founder and a former chairman of the organization Sports Law, and he is also much in demand as a lecturer and a course leader in, e.g. Danish Company Sports.
From 1979-2010 Jens Bertel Rasmussen was chairman of FC Svendborg as well.
Besides being one of the leading lawyers in sports law with a head office in Copenhagen, Jens Bertel Rasmussen is also partner in the law firm Bertel Rasmussen Lawyers, which has its head office in Svendborg.
Practical sport on an “elitist level”
◌ Played 2 years for Sfb’s first or second team in football, as a student.
◌ Goalkeeper for the Copenhagen Handball Club in the Copenhagen Series while studying
law in Copenhagen.
◌ Goalkeeper for SH’s (Svendborg’s) second division handball team after graduating from law
school.
Activities in sports law
◌ 2007 – given a price of honor as leader of the year in South-Funen by ligabold.com.
◌ 7 years as chairman of DBU’s Disciplinary Committee.
◌ Has been an adviser for football clubs, players and coaches on legal matters.
◌ Leader/chairman of SfB’s Professional Department for more than 25 years.
◌ Given legal advice, conducted cases for and been the chairman of the Danish Ice Hockey League.
◌ Has been a member of the Danish Ice Hockey League’s Court of Appeal.
◌ Been chairman of a considerable number of annual meetings in sports.
◌ Co-founder of the organization Sports Law/DIJF and chairman of the organization for a period of 8 years (1998-2006). The organization analyses and works with matters on sports law and publishes the book “Idrætsjuristen” (“The sports lawyer”) every year.
◌ Co-founder and chairman of Fyn’s Sports College for 15 years. The college has, among other things, a handball-line, football-line and gymnastics-line and also tennis, badminton and squash.
